Bangalore has kept in mind the convenience of passengers traveling in metro and it is planning to provide the facility of renting a bike from metro stations. This facility is made available in 36 metro stations in Bangalore. Passengers can leave it in their destination places and do not have the burden to carry it back to the stations. Cubbon Park, a bike renting company has started with this concept and they will provide approx 20-100 of such bikes in metro stations. Electric bikes and bicycles are on their list.
The availability of the bikes can be found out using an application and the nearest location of the bikes can be traced. The bikes can be accessed by biometric service. Passengers have to give in the One Time Password which they have to use to start riding a bike. This process makes it much safer and user-friendly. Users can start riding the bike from the drop point of one passenger.
It has been priced at Rs. 5 per km and 50 paise for every minute of travel. The amount is collected by the auto debit method to the account of the person riding the bike. In this way, there is timely payment and the bike renting works in a secured way. There are fewer delays than expected.
