Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched an application to serve e-administration through cell phones. Called UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance), the application is created by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD) to offer administrations of the focal, state, neighborhood bodies, and different government organizations ideal on Android and iOS based cell phones. A user can join this application for services from the Employees Provident Fund Organization, the Central Board of Secondary Education, Bharat Bill Pay and others. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) alongside the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) have built up the application, the name of which grows to Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance.
“Today, we launched the UMANG Mobile App, which will provide over a hundred citizen-centric services. At the back-end, these services will be catered for by many different departments of the Union and State Governments. This integrated approach will add an automatic layer of ‘peer performance pressure’, in the working of these departments,” Prime Minister Modi said while addressing the audience at GCCS.
UMANG application is currently available in 13 languages: Marathi, Tamil, Telegu, English, Hindi, Assamese, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi, Malayalam and Urdu. The app also allows the users to discover, download, access and use all government services easily in one place all from the comfort of you mobile phone.
Saying that internet has provided ‘ease of living’ to Indians, Modi added: “Empowerment through digital access is an objective that the Indian government is focused on.
